Jay Odedara made vital contributions with bat and ball to help Oman beat USA by 89 runs in the day-night game to clinch the three-match series 2-0 at the lush green Ministry of Sports ground 1 in Al Amerat on Tuesday.
Oman had won the first game by 117 runs on Monday. The third and final match will be played on Thursday.
Opting to bat first on a chilly afternoon, Oman struggled to find its feet against some tight USA bowling, slumping to 97 for 5 by the 25th over despite fluent knocks of 39 each by Arun Poulose and Jatinder Singh. However, late contributions from Odedara, captain Sultan Ahmed and Ahmed Fayyaz Butt propelled Oman to a fighting 189 for 9 in 50 overs. TK Patel led the bowling honours for USA, bagging four wickets for 28 runs in his quota of 10 overs.
Hoping to level the series 1-1, USA failed to put up a fight and folded up for a meagre 100 in the 41st over. Ravi Timbawala topscored with a laborious 23 off 65 balls. Khawar Ali was once again among wickets, taking three wickets. Ajay Lalcheta, Jay Odedara and Bilal Khan all bagged two wickets each.
