Muscat : Israr Ghala edge past Vanderlande by 1 wicket in the Senior Knockout tournament finals powered by Khimji Ramdas and Earn Trust beat Mazoon Dairy by 13 runs in the Junior Knockout tournament finals powered by Khimji Ramdas at the Muncipality Grounds, Al Amerat on Friday.
In the Senior Knockout Final, Vanderlande scored 137/6 in 20 overs courtesy Aravindh Ramesh’s (60 of 41; 5×4,2×6) blistering half century to get vanderlande to a respectable par total upon loosing wickets at quick intervals. Mobeen Muhammed bagged 2/22 being Israr’s top bowler in restricting Vanderlande’s strong batting line-up. In response, Israr Ghala lost three early wickets in the powerplay but Akhtar Saqib’s (63 of 32; 6×4,3×6) thundering knock got Israr Ghala inch closer to the target. Late blitz from Naeem Muhammed and a match winning six by Mubeen Muhammed seals the victory and the title for Israr Ghala scoring 138/9 in 18.3 overs.
In the Junior Knockout Final, Earn Trust elected to bat first. Ear Trust started steady and salient looking at a big total for the big game. Imran Ali (39 of 29; 4×4) and Khurram Chaudary’s (41 of 28; 5×4) responsible knocks takes Earn Trust to a total of 167/8 in 20 overs. Mazoon Dairy’s Mohammed Ghafoor’s 2/21 and Manish Bhatia’s 2/20 helped them pull back into the game chasing a respectable total. In response, Mazoon Dairy’s opener Ali Agher (54 of 44; 6×4) played a composed knock taking them closer to the target along with Mohammed Ghafoor’s (38 of 21; 3×4,2×6) quick fire runs keeping them in the chase. Mazoon Dairy lost wickets in clusters resulting in them getting a total of 154/8 in 20 overs falling short to the target by 13 runs. Earn Trust’s Mustansar Hussain claimed 3 wickets with Mozzam Shah and Shameer Khwaja picking 2 wickets each to get Earn Trust the championship.
