Electing to bat first, Design Group made their way to 148/8 after 20 overs. Opener Jibin Kunnumpurath led the scoring with a well-made 39. Muhammed Althaf and Karthik Rajappa were the other batsmen with notable contributions. They notched up individual tallies of 33 and 30 runs respectively.

With figures of 3/20, Aravindh Ramesh was the pick of the Vanderlande bowling unit. Mohamed Riyaz and Aasim Mohammed claimed 2 wickets apiece.

The second phase of the game saw Vanderlande chase the target down in 16.4 overs.

Asfak Ahmed departed in the third over, but his fellow opener Prasanth Reddy Thonduru occupied the crease until the 14th over, and put on a batting clinic for the duration of his time in the middle. His magnificent 46-ball 73 run knock brought Vanderlende to the brink of victory.

Prasanth was ably supported, over the course of that match-winning 96-run partnership by Barathwaj Vinayagam, who scored 46 runs himself. He remained unbeaten too and alongside Vignesh Kumar who kept him company during the game’s closing stages, clinched the win for his side.

In the post-game presentation ceremony, Varun Khimji, Director of Khimji Ramdas, presented Prasanth Reddy Thonduru with the player of the match award.

Prasanth also finished as the competition’s leading run-getter with 150 runs in 4 outings. Hussain Satham of Design Group occupied top spot in the wicket taking charts, with 8 scalps in 4 matches.

In the final of the Junior Knockout T20 season 2021/22 held at the same venue on the same day, Israr Ghala emerged victorious. They beat Earn Trust CT by 4 wickets.

Put to bat after losing the toss, Earn Trust CT negotiated the first 2 overs well, but proceeded to lose 4 wickets in the space of 5 balls to find themselves reeling at 20/4. However, a 59-run stand between Khurram Chaudhary and Ramesh Viswanathan stabilized their innings in the middle overs.

Khurram top scored for his side with a brilliant 33-ball 47. Ramesh remained unbeaten for his 33. Thanks to the late but vital contributions of Mozzam Shah and Shameer Mohamed Khwaja, Earn Trust CT posted a first innings score of 145/7.

Asim Shaheen Muhammed was Israr Ghala’s most effective weapon with the ball. He picked up 3 wickets in his 4 overs. Muhammed Saqib and Masih Arif claimed 2 apiece.

In response, Israr Ghala’s top order was as ineffective as Earn Trust CT’s had been, earlier in the day. However, coming in at number 5, Ali Gul Agha scored half of the required runs on his own and set his side up for victory in the process.

With Ali anchoring the run chase, the other lower middle order batters played around him and chipped in with some valuable scores. Sagheer Muhammad in particular, looked excellent for his unbeaten 23. After Ali’s demise in the 18th over, he stayed put and with Muhammed Saqib for company, took Israr Ghala over the finish line with 5 balls to spare.

Mozzam Shah and Zaheer Abbas were Earn Trust CT’s top performers in the second innings. They picked up 2 wickets each.

In the post-match presentation ceremony, Varun Khimji, Director of Khimji Ramdas presented Ali Gul Agha with the player of the match award.

Nadeer Kunninu Thaye Kunninu of Mazoon UP finished as the tournament’s leading run-getter. He accumulated 249 runs over a 4-match span. With 9 scalps in his 3 outings on the field, Aravinthan Raja of Al Muthla Golden CT ended the competition as its highest wicket-taker.
